About Us

Bringing Indian Community Together

The Indian Cultural Association of East Alabama (ICAEA) is a nonprofit, community-driven organization since 1985 that serves as the cultural heartbeat of the Indian diaspora in East Alabama. For 40 years, ICAEA has been a vibrant platform for fostering cultural exchange, preserving Indian heritage, and creating a strong sense of community among Indian and non-Indian residents alike.

Our Story

We are a diverse and dynamic group of individuals—families, professionals, students, and volunteers—who share a common goal: to celebrate, promote, and pass on the rich traditions of India while embracing the multicultural spirit of Auburn and East Alabama.

What We Stand For

  • Culture & Heritage: We host grand celebrations like Diwali, Holi, and Navratri Garba, bringing the community together through music, dance, food, and traditions.

  • Education & Language: We conduct Hindi language classes and heritage programs to help younger generations stay connected to their roots.

  • Community & Inclusion: We welcome everyone—regardless of background—to experience and appreciate Indian culture.

  • Sports & Wellness: We organize cricket tournaments, volleyball matches, and outdoor activities to build camaraderie and promote well-being.

  • Collaboration & Growth: We work closely with local institutions, businesses, and Auburn University to create a more inclusive and culturally enriched Auburn.

  • Supporting Indian Families & Students: We help newcomers settle into their new environment by providing guidance on housing, schools, grocery shopping, transportation, and local services. We also assist Indian students at Auburn University by connecting them with mentors, networking opportunities, and resources to adjust to college life.

As ICAEA celebrates its 40th anniversary, we continue to evolve while staying true to our mission: bringing people together through the universal language of culture, tradition, and community.
